One day, a group of us—avid poker players who play together in a weekly medium-stakes game—were looking to buy a gift for a tournament director. He already had a good set of chips, a couple nice poker tables and a Blu-Ray copy of Rounders. We scoured the internet, trying to find the perfect poker-themed gift to show our appreciation for his thankless job, but we came up empty.

That fruitless search made us think about old-time specialty shops that care about the products they produce; places that are run by tradesmen and questions about the product are answered with care, pride and respect.
